Some wedding days just stay with you, the kind that feel effortless, filled with joy, and make me fall even more in love with capturing love stories. Maggie and Patrick’s Boulder, Colorado wedding was exactly that. As a Colorado wedding photographer and a Boulder wedding photographer, days like theirs remind me why I love documenting weddings in such a breathtaking place.

From the moment I arrived, I knew this day was going to be something special. Maggie and Patrick had dreamed of a crisp fall wedding in Boulder, with golden leaves and a cool mountain breeze. Instead, Colorado had a different plan—a surprise heatwave that made it feel more like midsummer than October.

But if the unexpected warmth threw them off, you’d never know it. They embraced the sunshine completely, proving that no matter the season, love (and maybe a little sweat) makes any Colorado wedding day perfect. That’s one of the beautiful things about Boulder weddings (or any Colorado wedding….), you never quite know what weather you’ll get, but it always adds its own magic to the story.

The extremely warm weather also ended up creating one of my favorite wedding-day memories behind the camera. To help keep Maggie cool in the heat, I drove her around in my car and let her sit in the air conditioning right before the ceremony. We listened to Taylor Swift and talked about life and the future. It was such an unexpected, intimate pause in the middle of the busyness, and it’s now one of my core memories as a Boulder wedding photographer.

One of my favorite parts of their day was the baby blue VW bus they rented. It was straight out of a dream, a vintage touch that matched their adventurous and easygoing spirits perfectly. Whether it was parked as the coolest photo backdrop or cruising up Boulder’s mountain pass to their ceremony site at Sunrise Amphitheater, it added personality and charm to their wedding photography. That VW bus wasn’t just a detail, it became part of their story, giving us unforgettable Boulder wedding photos that reflected who Maggie and Patrick are as a couple: fun, authentic, and ready for adventure.
