Wedding Guest Style Guide

So you're dressing for a wedding...

After taking time off of work to travel, finding a date, and picking out a gift, the last thing you should be worrying about when going to a wedding is what you’re going to wear. The invitation says, “Colorado Casual,” but what does that even mean? The Black Tux recently released a helpful guide for every wedding situation. Below, we’ve included some of our own tips in addition to their handy cheat sheet:

-Avoid ivory, cream, champagne, and other bridal colors as well as white.

-Try not to be overly edgy or sexy. Your boyfriend’s fraternity brother’s wedding is not the place to show off that killer dress you got for your Vegas trip.

-Unless the wedding is “Colorado Casual,” leave the jeans at home.

-Keep in mind the season and location of the wedding. For example, it’s going to be more comfortable to wear heels at winter wedding at the Four Seasons than on a ranch in July.

-When in doubt, err on the side of overdressed. Daisy Dukes are going to stand out more than a tie would at a beach wedding.

-Be comfortable! You’ll be standing, dancing, and sweating for a lot of the night!

When in doubt, consider who’s getting married. Ultimately, you know your friends and their styles better than any online forum does. Would they give you a harder time for wearing a tie, or forgetting one?
