Rumor has it that Martha Stewart Weddings is featuring a same sex wedding in the upcoming Winter issue (see sneak peek courtesy of 100 Layer Cake below). MS Weddings has always a trailblazer in the wedding industry, and at A Touch of Bliss we are ecstatic to see a media powerhouse publish something we already know: Love is for everyone, and marriage should be too! Way to go Darcy! Bravo!

On the planning track towards Maui, I met with Julie of JS Designs for lunch at the very lovely Gaia to discuss the Save-the-Dates and Invitations for our vow renewal in 2010. I brought a few examples for inspiration – I want a fun, unexpected invitation that will surprise our guests. Although only 30 of these beauties will be made, they will be little works of art!

I cannot wait to see what Julie dreams up! Stay tuned for Save-the -Dates!

We cannot wait to work with Paula from The Teacup Shop – Her style is impressive and her talent to manage sugar and flour is unsurpassed! Born in Colombia, Paula has a Business degree from her home country and a culinary degree from The Art Institute of Colorado.

Paula won first place in the Sweet time of the Rockies cake competition in the Professional division for her “Black and White” wedding cake, in February of 2008 at the Home and Garden Show, and second place for the “Ocean Theme” piece.

A few examples of her amazing work:

Below is the inspiration board that we designed for Nicole and Rocky, who wanted a rich, antique French feel to their wedding. The groom is French, and the couple met while backpacking in Asia. Très romantique! As they tied the knot last Saturday, the photos are imminent, and we will share them as soon as we have them!

As I mentioned previously, I am starting to plan a vow renewal ceremony on Maui, the island that I was born and raised on. I know every beach and many hidden locations to consider for the ceremony location. While searching for new venues, I came across the Haiku Mill website. I have to say, the beauty of this location is amazing! What a romantic, photogenic location – it has already been used for a Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition shoot-

Complete with a bride’s room, catering capabilities, and swing, this location is not the least expensive place to get married on Maui, but may be becoming the most stunning hidden gem!

This wrap literally IS the icing on the cake! An organza confection, this wrap would add a couture feel to any gown. Offered on Etsy by Modern Romance PDX, and perfect for a summer wedding. Or what about the finishing touch on a getaway dress?

Everyone once a while, brides and grooms decide to forgo a videographer for their wedding coverage. Some couples think they don’t need the added expense, the extra vendor, or the man behind the camera asking their guests questions at the reception. However, I am a HUGE advocate for videographers, and I always tell my brides that there is nothing like watch yourself walk down the aisle. The whole day passes you by so quickly, and your photos and video are the only documentation you have of the day.
If you are a bride considering a videographer, this video will push you over the edge. Found by the amazing team at Style Me Pretty, this wedding was shot in Anguilla by the talented team at Elysium Productions, it moved us to tears! I can’t say enough about this example of outstanding work – well done Elysium!

Our favorite vendor this Friday is Mantis Media. Although they are not a wedding vendor, they are the amazing team who shot the video for A Touch of Bliss on Wednesday. We want to say a special thank you to Boyce and Gewan, who made this video happen. We can’t wait to see the final product. A few thank you’s to the vendors who participated:

Thank you to our couples, Brooke and Pat, Nena and Rod, and Katie and Casey for all of your kind words, we LOVED having you there!
